Starting a new diet, but not yet ready to let go of your favorite fried foods? This dish uses chickpea flour, which is high in protein and low in carbohydrates. Plain yogurt is used as a binder, instead of eggs. Lastly, grape seed oil is used for frying because it has a high heat index.
The taste of this dish is a bit more tangy than traditional fried food. However, the end result is satisfying. Try this recipe with any of your favorite vegetables, meats, and spice mixtures. It is a great alternative for children, as well!

Ingredients
2 c. Broccoli florets
1/2 c. chickpea flour
1/3 c. plain yogurt
1 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 t. garlic powder
1/4 t. paprika
Salt & pepper, to taste
Grape seed oil
In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients with the yogurt. Add the broccoli florets, and coat well. In a skillet at medium heat, pour in the grape seed oil about a half inch high. Once the oil is ready, place the battered florets in the skillet with tongs. Brown each side of the florets, about a minute or two per side. Remove from oil onto paper towels and sprinkle with sea salt. Serve with halved grape tomatoes, and a spiced yogurt sauce.
