Hand painted boxes make wonderful gifts.
Craft stores everywhere carry raw wood boxes in all shapes, sizes, and styles.
Choose your unique box, and have fun creating an original piece for a loved one.
I decided to give this piece a sort of aged, gilded look.
Supplies
1 raw wood box of choice
Acrylic paint: black, red, metallic gold
1 paint pen, metallic gold
1 small sea sponge
paint brush
Paint the whole box black, and let dry. This box had a medallion on the lid and I painted it red. Mix black and red to make a dark burgundy, and sponge it on after the black base coat has dried, let dry. Sponge the gold paint over the whole box, let dry, and embellish the medallion with the gold paint pen (as pictured at top of page).
Be sure to put something special inside, even if it is just a handwritten message.
